RAF Brize Norton v2 AI Traffic Files
------------------------------------

**********updated as of 04 Feb 2003******************

In order to be able to operate Brize Norton v2 with AI traffic I created the following files:

To use these files you need Traffic Tools v1.2 (or higher) by Lee Swordy

You must also have imported the attached AFD file using Lee Swordy's AFCAD to allow the parking gates and taxiways to be recognised by AI traffic.

Once you have decompiled FS using TTools, copy and paste the following lines to the flight plans, aircraft and airports files and then TCompile them back into FS. Use Lee's excellent readme if you are unsure what you are doing.

Unfortunately the AI aircraft will not park at the bays they should do in real life, and there is no way to fix this. It does however bring some life to FS. If you want to just use the AI aircraft to liven up your base and dont want the static macros I created then delete the file aircraftv2.bgl from the scenery folder. This will however leave alot of empty bays. I am at the moment working on a full AFCAD file to eneble all the bays to be used. The one attached with this download is set up with the static macros in mind.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Insert these lines onto the top lines of the existing AIRPORTS file in order that the AI aircraft can fly to the real world destinations that the RAF fly to. These are airports not currently recognised by FS as AI flight plan destinations

Insert these lines at the bottom of the list in the AIRCRAFT file.
These are downloadable aircraft from various 3rd party designers and there is a list below of the files you will need. If you cannot get these aircraft or dont want to use them simply replace the aircraft title with the title of the aircraft you want to use, (found on the second line of the aircraft.cfg file)

AC#38,490,"Vickers VC-10 C Mk 1 XV108 10 Sqn RAF"
AC#39,490,"Vickers VC-10 K2 RAF"
AC#40,482,"RAF Tristar"
AC#41,410,"C-130K C.Mk 1P RAF (new colours)"
AC#42,457,"AirBUS A320-200 MYTravel"
AC#43,477,"Boeing 757-200 (RR) Mon NC"
AC#44,540,"Boeing C-17 Paint3"
AC#45,470,"Canadian Forces CC150 Polaris"
AC#46,460,"NIMROD"

These aircraft relate to the following downloadable add-ons:

AC#38 = Dave Maltby's excellent VC-10. A pure genius model that resembles this stunning aircraft perfectly. Unfortunately it isnt perfect because its far too reliable to be a real VC-10.
available from: http://www.maltbyd.fsnet.co.uk/

AC#39 = Another Dave Maltby piece of genius. A truly lifelike VC-10 Tanker.
available from: http://www.maltbyd.fsnet.co.uk/

AC#40 = The best RAF Tristar for FS on the planet and the best Tristar model out there. the reflective textures alone make it brilliant. By Mike Stone.
available from: www.pmstone.com
textures available from: Garry's textures (through Mike Stones Website)

AC#41 = Although for FS2000 this is still the best Herc model available, and the only one of Adrian Brausch's Hercules painted in RAF colours that Ive found.
available from: http://aamodels.8m.com/
repaints available at: www.SurClaro

AC#42 = Mike Bailey's great GMAX A320 in Mytravel's interim colours. Although they have begun using the newly painted orange and purple versions out of Brize recently.
available from: www.SurClaro

AC#43 = Russell Trigg's B757 in Monarch colours.
available from: www.SurClaro

AC#44 = One of the best aircraft available for FS2002 in my opinion. Project OpenSky's adoption of Owen Hewitt's C-17 model. And the fact it contains a RAf repaint makes it even better.
available from: http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/aircraft3-view/

AC#45 = Harold Nehring's A310. Brilliantly modelled aircraft. You need to download the original aircraft and then I found the repaint for the CC-150 Polaris as well as a reaint in the Sultan of Brunei's flight colours (another aircraft that frequently visits Brize)
All available from: www.SurClaro

AC#46 = RAF Nimrod by Brian Franklin. Nicest model of this great aircraft around.
available from: www.SurClaro or www.simviation.com

Copy the following lines and paste them at the top of the list in the FLIGHTPLANS file.
They are flight plans for most of the RAF's scheduled routes around the world. And some of the visiting Aircraft.
I have included real take off and landing times.

(Each should be a single line so when you paste them in be sure to correct the last entry to read a full four letter code or turn word wrap off before you copy)

The top four flights are the RAF's Akrotiri schedule running on monday, wednesday, thursday and sunday. flights 2020 and 2040 (the top two) should be Vickers VC10s, the second two 6910 and 6930 should be Tristars.

Flight 8081 running 3 times a week to Pristina (LYPR) should be a MyTravel Airways Airbus A320.

Flight 8089 to Banja Luka (LQBK) running on Wednesdays should be a Monarch Airlines Boeing 757.

Flight 3200 to Mount Pleasant, Falkland Islands (EGYP) should be an RAF Tristar.

The bottom three flights include a weekly thru-visit from a Canadian Air Force CC-150 (A310), a weekly visit from a RAF Nimrod dropping off passengers for flight 2040, and the daily Hercules which picks up the paratroopers from the Para training school to take them for practice jumps.

Make sure the aircraft number in the left hand side AC#-- relates correctly to the aircraft numbers in the AIRCRAFT file. Otherwise your aircraft will be flying the wrong schedules.

More flights will be generated for Brize Norton When I have the time to do them. I have not yet created a full C17 schedule or most of the visiting aircraft. These will be released to download in the near future.
